You did some very good work, touched a few people's lives, but if this is what you feel in your heart is the right thing for you, personally, to do, don't let anyone else try to push you into staying. The best example that Lupe can set for all of us is to be true to yourself, and don't give in to the pressures around you. It's stupid and selfish to believe that Lupe won't have a positive impact on society separate from music, and that he owes us or hip hop anything. If you can't support his decision for his own life, fuck you. And if he has no intention of quitting, but is doing this for publicity and to have people beg him to stay, fuck him.
